Old World Tradition in Progressive Design by a master leather artisan dedicated to producing one of the highest quality and the most distinctive saddlebags made in the United States.

Leathers, hair on hides and skins are thoroughly inspected to avoid abrasions or cuts that could affect the structural integrity of the bags. Naturally occurring color variations, brands, scrapes are included to make each item unique.

The premium hair-on cowhides and hair-on calfskins and exotic skins are chosen for color and pattern to enhance the design of each saddlebag and ensure a one of a king product.

Construction

Highly regarded techniques of tailoring, leatherworking and quality handcrafting are used in making these numbered pieces of art. Seams are glued prior to stitching and finished well for strength and durability.

Adjustable straps and flaps protect all contents and strings of the saddle through the grommets secure the pack bags to the saddle.

Series 1 Smooth Leather Style: 4/5 oz. USA Stone Oil Tanned Leather
Series 2 Hair On Cow/Calf Style: 4/5 oz. USA Stone Oil Tanned Leather
Leather Colors: Black, Dark Burgundy, Dark Brown, & Dark Olive
Hair On Cowhide or Calf: Black & White / Dark Brown & White / Brindle
Expect some variation in color
Sheared Smooth Hair or Natural Long Hair is available.
The shoulder, body and flap pieces are hand selected to include brands, naturally occurring marks and scars to individualize the body of the saddlebags. This leather sheds water and if scuffs should occur most rub out with fingertips to restore the patina of the leather.
Series 3: 2 to 4 oz. Smooth or Pebble Grain (please specify) in a range of colors
Sheared Smooth Hair or Natural Long Hair
These supple and beautiful full grain leathers in many colors are selected for a mellow hand. In smooth or pebble grain they are strong and durable but have a softer look and feel. The shoulder, body and flap pieces are hand selected to include brands, naturally occurring marks and scars to individualize the body of the saddlebags.
Thread: Nylon thread is used exclusively. Thread ends are secured, knotted, trimmed and heat sealed for durability.
Glue: Contact Cement: Each attachment is glued, sewn and topstitched for added strength.
Straps: 3 / 4 oz Vegetable Tanned Leather is hand cut and dyed. Liquid leather care and glycerin saddle soap are applied to both sides of strapping to maintain the beauty of the leather and ‘feed’ the leather. These items are buffed to a lustrous finish.

Findings

A selection of Steel, Solid Brass or Solid Bras/Nickel Hardware is used for buckles, grommets and rivets. Copper Rivets can be used in some applications.

Dimensions

These large saddlebags are approximately 12.5”wide, 15” deep from top of flap to bottom of the bag, and a generous 4” gusset. ‘STRAYS’ accommodate everything for the enjoyment of Every Day Riders and Trail Riders.

The products carry a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser for workmanship under the intended use

Maintenance

Buffing the body of the goods with a soft cloth deepens the beauty of the leather. Apply glycerin saddle soap if desired with a sponge to the straps and the body. When dry buff with a soft cloth to maintain the beauty of the finish and suppleness of the straps.
